On your device
Your Shelf and recent labels are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
Barcode and name lookup
The barcode number is sent to the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (api.ods.od.nih.gov) and to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) to find the label. A product name you type is sent to the NIH database. Nothing else is sent and we run no server.
Label photos
Label photos are read on the device by Apple's text recognition and are not uploaded.
Camera
The camera is optional. You can choose a photo or type a name.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple.
Children
Backlabel is not directed to children under 13.
